IELTS Speaking Part 3 Topic School (Question And Answer)

Question 1: Has education in your country changed in the last 20 years?

Sample answer

I would have to say yes. The biggest success and advancement in education is that illiteracy is rarely seen, in both rural and urban areas. In addition, institutions for higher education like universities and colleges are becoming common in most parts of Vietnam. Lastly, there are new methods of learning emerging thanks to the rise of technology. The most significant examples are the approaches of online and distant learning that provide people with opportunities to advance their education.

Vocabulary

– illiteracy: sự mù chữ
– online learning: học trực tuyến
– distant learning: học từ xa

Question 2: In what ways can education prepare pupils for life after school?

Sample answer

First of all, to the depth of my knowledge, there are three aspects of personal development, including knowledge, skills and experience. Schools can provide students with incredibly comprehensive lessons and chances to turn the learnt knowledge into skills via practice sessions. Unfortunately, it is not the case when it comes to experience as individuals must undergo a certain amount of time to practice and to fail. In other words, experience accumulation wholly depends on the students themselves.

Vocabulary:

– comprehensive: đầy đủ
– underdo: trải qua
– accumulation: sự tích lũy

Question 3: Do you think students should choose subjects they like?

Sample answer

I certainly agree with this idea, for everyone is born with distinct talents and capabilities. For example, a spatial-intelligent student will excel at painting, while the one with logical-mathematical intelligence is reportedly good at solving Math problems. Moreover, I always believe in the saying of that “Don’t make fish climb trees”. Every learner is a genius himself when learning the subject he feels the most comfortable with. All in all, I do think learners should have their own right to choose to learn whatever subjects they like.

Vocabulary

– spatial-intelligent: có trí thông minh thị giá và không gian
– logical-mathematical intelligence: trí tuệ toán học và logic
– genius: thiên tài
