Are there many public holidays in your country?
Sample answer
I’m not really good at numbers and dates, but I’m pretty sure that there are plenty of those in Vietnam. As far as I can remember, the public holidays include the New Year’s Day, the Tet Holiday, the Hung Kings’ Commemorations, the Day of Southern Liberation and National Reunification, the International Workers’ Day and the National Day. So, we have 5 of them in total.

What is your favorite holiday?
Sample answer
Personally, I would love any day that gives me one or two days-off. Still, if I have to choose, I’d say that the April 30th, which is also known as Day of Southern Liberation and National Reunification, is my number one choice. The reason is quite simple. It gives me a strong sense of pride for how our ancestors and predecessors fought for the sake of one nation, so as to unify its people once again after a long time of separation.

What do people in your country do during holidays?
Sample answer
The answer may vary from person to person. To the depth of my knowledge, in Vietnam, people tend to celebrate holidays with some sorts of parties and gatherings, which can be either formal or informal. Also, if possible, we’d love to go on a trip, either nationally and internationally, and spend some time with our beloved ones during those events.

What did you do in the last holiday?
Sample answer
I just did the same things that every youngster would do. For instance, I ate and slept the whole day to recover from a long time of drowning in works and projects. In addition, I binge watched my favorite Korean soap opera as a way to compensate for the busy days. It sounds maybe not really healthy, but at least I did things that I enjoy.

Question 5: Do you think that holidays are important?

My answer is a big “Yes”. From my point of view, holidays are like a way to escape from all the somehow overwhelming hustle and bustle of the real world. Moreover, they are occasions and opportunities for people make up for the ones that are truly important – family and friends.
