Sample answer
I’m not an expert in this field, and history is certainly not my cup of tea. Still, whenever I am asked with this type of questions, the event in April 1975 always crosses my mind. Also, for anyone who doesn’t know yet, it is the day that marks the Southern Liberation and National Reunification in Vietnam.
More specifically, this milestone was set on April 30th 1975 when the Vietnamese Northern Communist troops of soldiers successfully defeated their adversary from the Southern side. The moment of a Northern Vietnamese tank crashing the gate of the Independence Palace, that marked the end of the 20-year Vietnam War, has become nationally and internationally iconic.
Furthermore, there are several reasons why this event is so vital.
Firstly, prior to this historical highlight, our country and people had been divided into two separate sides, and there was nothing more heartbreaking than that. In other words, the day of April 30th simply ended the colonization and brought the long-awaited reunification into reality.
Secondly, and more importantly, this victory is not only about losing – winning. It is the proof of how brave, mighty and patriotic the Vietnamese can be. We had successfully overthrown the reportedly superior U.S. troops and defended our motherland. This is what really matters.
